How the 10-Year Tax Abatement Shaped the Last 20 Years and What's Next

Since the City of Philadelphia launched the 10-year property tax abatement for new construction and improvements, real estate activity has grown exponentially. While not wholly attributable to the abatement, there is no question that this tax incentive is a significant factor in the city's explosive growth the last 20 years. But the abatement continues to draw fire from opponents and its future is under perennial threat.
 
At its 17^th annual Builders Conference, the Building Industry Association of Philadelphia will examine the abatement's impact to date and its future, including how changes in policy can affect the city's development climate and shift markets.
